Disrupting the peace is something that irritates every person, and the Internet used to be a place where many found their peace. All this has changed with the advancement of technology and social networks, and with that, online abuse and various forms of blackmail have started, which must be put to an end. This list will better acquaint every person who faces this kind of problem with ways to solve it.

What is online bullying?

Just as there is bullying in real life, it can also be very widespread online and can be quite different depending on the case. Online bullying involves insults and intimidation through messages on different platforms, the publication of private photos and recordings of different people, the promotion of false rumors, and exclusion from online communities. Many may have a problem, such as dealing with online blackmail, which can be very dangerous. None of these items should be ignored, and they can gradually lead to more serious cases. There are various reasons why some people decide to harass someone online, such as jealousy and revenge, or there are people who enjoy insulting and humiliating others. Motives can be much more dangerous when money is involved because many people want to extract money from the victims of online bullying and think that they can get it with blackmail.

How to defend yourself?

A person facing this problem needs to be calm all the time, record evidence, and save all threats and messages to be able to hand them over to the police. To protect each person, it is necessary to protect the privacy of their accounts and not allow unknown persons to access them. All passwords should be protected so that no one can use them. Particular attention should be paid to the content that is shared on social networks and also in private messages because the abuser does not have to be only an unknown person but also someone close to the victim.

Where to get help?

The first thing any person facing this problem should do is block the person who sends them threats and insults and report them on the platform where this happens. Many administrators of popular social networks will react quickly and ban the harassing user, preventing their further action on other potential victims. The bad thing is that the abuser can easily open a new profile, but you have to be persistent, block them from everyone, and not engage in further communication. The second thing that should be done is for the person to turn to friends and family so that they know what they are going through and come to a potential solution together. The third step can be very useful, and it refers to using legal processes. The police department that deals with cybercrime will try to locate the person who commits online bullying so that they can go through all the legal processes and be adequately punished.

Different people can experience online bullying differently, but it is certainly a difficult period for everyone who encounters it. It is important to act quickly to mitigate the consequences and it is necessary to provide emotional support to all who are going through this.
