Why Lincoln Financial May Deny Your Disability Claim

Lincoln Financial Group is your run-of-the-mill insurance company that talks big to receive premiums but loses its tongue at the time of applying for claims. As insurance companies work for a profit, accepting all disability claims is not going to be a feasible option. The fact that Lincoln National Group has been around since 1905 proves that.

If an injury/illness results in a disability, the natural reaction would be to apply for a disability claim. But those who have partnered with Lincoln Financial have an increased chance of their disability claim getting rejected. In such cases, it is essential to consult reputable lawyers like J. Price McNamara, an ERISA insurance claim attorney.

There are many reasons why a disability claim at Lincoln Financial will get rejected. This article focuses on some of those reasons. Hopefully, by the time you reach the conclusion, you will have gained more knowledge about the disability claim rejection process.

Inconsistency

The insurance company isn’t going to accept all the documents you submit as evidence and simply hand over disability benefits. This would happen in a world where Santa delivers gifts every Christmas and insurance fraud doesn’t exist.

Every time an insurance company receives a disability claim, it will conduct an investigation. This can be anything, from hiring private eyes to spy on you to stalking you on social media. Their objective is to find something that contradicts your claim. Once they find something, they’ll pounce on it and cling on to it till the end.

The scummy nature of an insurance adjuster aside, you must make sure you’re consistent throughout the process. You can’t claim disability benefits for a specific illness but exhibit symptoms for a completely different one.

Lack of Sufficient Medical Evidence

Like all claims, you’re going to need solid evidence to prove that you’re suffering from a disability. No, your neighbor Dave swearing on his mother that you’re injured doesn’t count. You’ll need sufficient evidence, preferably from medical professionals, to prove your current condition.

A lack of proper evidence is one of the major reasons why disability claims are denied. So when you’re applying for a disability claim, make sure you’re submitting all relevant medical documents along with it.

Claims of Exaggerating Your Injuries

This is one of the tricks insurance companies employ. A decent chunk of insurance companies often downplay your injuries to reject your disability claims. They may justify it by saying that you already had the condition or that your illness/injury isn’t as serious as you claim it to be.

One way to counter this reason for claim denial is by submitting doctor statements that show how serious your injury/illness is.

You Filled Out the Application Form Incorrectly

This is, perhaps, the only reason on this list that is valid. Most victims may fill out their disability form erroneously. Their claims may get rejected as a result.

Improper filling of forms aside, some may also provide inaccurate or inconsistent information when submitting their disability claim. All this will work against them.

Insurance Terms and Conditions

It helps to read the terms and conditions of the policy properly before choosing one. The clustered chunks of text that run for multiple pages are often a chore to read. This is a reason why people don’t read them. But it often comes to haunt them later.

Before choosing an insurance plan, you must go through their terms and conditions.

Conclusion

Having to live with a disability is difficult. You will come across numerous challenges that make even day-to-day tasks super difficult. Disability benefits give some relief to your suffering until recovery.

Lincoln Financial has been in the business for over 100 years. They aren’t going to change their business model, especially since it has helped them survive for this long.

You need to contact an experienced disability insurance lawyer if your claim is rejected. They will offer the assistance you need to appeal your rejected disability claim.
