Tables Showing Significant Features
of Pro Se Assistance Programs

Summary

The following tables were developed from information submitted to the American Judicature Society in summer 1999.

Table 1, which was compiled from questionnaires returned by state court administrative offices, summarizes various aspects of statewide assistance programs (i.e., those developed under the sponsorship of the state supreme court or state judicial council).

Tables 2, 3 and 4 summarize information submitted by state team members about local pro se assistance programs. Local programs may be entirely sponsored and funded by local actors, such as the local trial court or local bar association. They also may be locally implemented programs of a statewide initiative, with ultimate oversight from the state supreme court or state judicial council, and possible funding from the state legislature.

Table 5 is a list of contact persons for each local program.
