National College on Judicial Conduct and Ethics Your location: Judicial Ethics :: National College

The American Judicature Society has decided not to hold the National College on Judicial Conduct and Ethics in 2010. Although the College is usually scheduled every two years and the last College was in 2008, AJS has decided that cut-backs in state court budgets, which have curtailed out-of-state travel, will result in a substantial decrease in attendance that makes it impractical to plan and hold the College in 2010. The next College is planned for fall 2011. If you have any questions, please contact cgray@ajs.org.

21st National College on Judicial Conduct and Ethics

The College was approved for 9 general CLE credits by the Illinois MCLE Board and 9 hours professional responsibility credit by the Commission on Professionalism of the Illinois Supreme Court.  A certificate of attendance form was included in the conference materials.

The Center for Judicial Ethics held its 21st National College on Judicial Conduct and Ethics on October 29-31, 2008, at the Embassy Suites Downtown Lakefront, 511 N. Columbus, Chicago, Illinois.

The National College provided a forum for judicial conduct commission members and staff, judges, and judicial educators to learn about and discuss professional standards for judges and current issues in judicial discipline.

The College began on Wednesday October 29 with registration and an evening reception.  Thursday morning the plenary session was on "Judicial Ethics and Discipline Around the World: followed by concurrent workshops through Friday noon.

The College was approved for 9 general CLE credits by the Illinois MCLE Board and 9 hours professional responsibility credit by the Commission on Professionalism of the Illinois Supreme Court.
