AJS Encourages Candidates to Address Justice System Issues

Summary

There are matters concerning the administration of justice that should not be ignored.

The November-December 2007 issue of Judicature (Vol. 91, No. 3), the journal of the American Judicature Society, contains an editorial encouraging AJS members, the media, and the presidential candidates to discuss and debate issues central to the administration of justice in the United States. Too often important matters affecting our justice system receive little or no attention from candidates campaigning for high office. The AJS Editorial Committee identified the following topics to be of particular relevance during the current election cycle: access to justice, federalism, judicial selection, sentencing policy, and the Department of Justice. AJS believes it is important for the voters to have the opportunity to learn where the candidates stand on these crucial issues. To read the editorial in its entirety online, click here.
