The National College provides a forum for approximately 200 judicial conduct commission members and staff, judges, judicial ethics advisory committee members, and attorneys to learn about and discuss professional standards for judges and current issues in judicial discipline. The College provides an invaluable opportunity to dialog with judicial colleagues about emerging conduct and ethics issues, and access training that may not be available at the local, state, or regional level.

Judicature
This AJS publication is a forum for fact and opinion relating to all aspects of the administration of justice and its improvement, with a worldwide readership approaching 6,000. It is a bi-monthly, refereed journal that is indexed in Index to Legal Periodicals, Current Law Index, Legal Resource Index, Criminal Justice Periodical Index and PAIS Bulletin, and is available on-line on the WESTLAW® service.

Judicial Selection in the States Website
AJS, through initial funding from the Open Society Institute, has compiled comprehensive information on judicial selection processes in each of the fifty states and the District of Columbia. Sponsorships support ongoing research, database maintenance, and updates to ensure the integrity of information provided through this national website. The website has been featured in national media outlets and experiences from 5,000 to nearly 14,000 visitor sessions per month, with peaks as high as 728 sessions per day.

High School Curriculum on the Judiciary (HSC)
This interactive addition to the AJS website reflects ongoing efforts to inform and educate the public about the workings of the judicial branch of government. The pilot-tested HSC is a two-lesson unit prepared for high-school seniors that creatively engages students in research and situational role playing of justice-system characters. Lessons include detailed teacher notes, a day planner, student rubric, and handouts available through free downloads from AJS, as well as links to lesson-compatible resources. The site has nearly 900 registered users who access lesson plans, post comments, and offer suggestions for curriculum use and enhancements. Holt, Rinehart and Winston, a leading publisher of textbooks and materials for secondary education, provides links to the HSC webpage in its teacher materials and resources related to curriculum topics. Sponsorships support curriculum development and outreach, as well as site maintenance and updates.

Sidebar Program
“Judges Educating Law Students on Courtroom Issues” – Originally developed by AJS in 1989 to help educate law students about courtroom conduct, each Sidebar Program features a panel of state and federal judges who offer future lawyers an inside look at the courts, while providing insight and direct interaction to help them become effective attorneys. An updated Sidebar Planning Manual will be published in 2008 that includes a chronological task chart, substantive resources, and sample materials to support planning and implementation of Sidebar programs throughout the country.
